I moved to the Northern Rivers area of
Lismore/ Goonellabah in February, 2000 from Goulburn, NSW and joined the
Northern NSW Hog Chapter as a member in 2001 after buying my Harley in
August from a private sale in Moree.
There had been a long drought in
between owning other bikes over the years including a Yamaha 650 and
Ducati 750 SS Desmo, with marriage, kids (the usual mortgage shit etc.
until the time came).
I still had my licence from the
early seventies although there was the 3 months of driving the foot
falcon from an accumulated number of speeding fines. At one stage I
think my brother and I had enough to wallpaper our bedrooms as we both
owned bikes and got pulled up by the coppers on far to many occasions.
I particularly wanted a 1998 Fatboy
95th Anniversary Model and this one had only 2300 km on it since
new. The owner had bought it new from Thomas Lee Motorcycles, Moree.
I've had that bike since and it has provided many years of memories,
thousands of kilometres on some fantastic journeys and enabled me to
meet some great people and friends during that period.
This is the first time I've been on
the Executive and so far it has provided me with an interesting array of
typical Secretary/ Membership Officer challenges. There has been a
strong growth of new members and even some old faces returning to the
Chapter. I believe there has been some positive results from the
National Rally and the strong presence of our members working with the
committee saw a great response to renewals.
With the Chapter website comes the
possibility to communicate further with members, but in the meantime you
now know who I am so feel free to chat on the next ride stop over a
beer. I look forward to seeing you.
